Located in the Sandhills of north-central Nebraska, Dismal River is 382 miles from Omaha, 366 from Denver, 326 from Lincoln, 86 from North Platte, and 20 miles from Mullen. As well as a million miles from any other golfing experience you’ve ever had. (Please keep in mind that we are in the Mountain Time Zone!)

The beautiful scenery and austere, rolling landscape you witness during the one and a half hour drive north from North Platte will have you asking yourself, “Is this Ireland, Scotland, or Nebraska?”

As you make the drive to and from Dismal River, please keep in mind the etiquette of a one-lane road in the Nebraska Sandhills.

  • When encountering another vehicle coming from the opposite direction, please reduce speed and pull to the side of the road, allowing for both vehicles to safely pass each other. (At times, and especially with larger agricultural equipment or trucks, pulling over and coming to a complete stop is necessary.)
  • Please be cognizant of your speed; there are many hills and blind curves on the road. Speed limit signs are posted although you may need to travel well below that limit at times.
  • As our membership base grows and traffic increases, we want to ensure each person arrives safely at the club and travels safely home.
