The course is calling.

Dismal River is links golf in its purest form. With the White Course and the Red Course each having their own personality, the diversity of play is unlike anything you've ever experienced. The tees provide magnificent views in all directions and the scope of the land makes each hole seem like a world all its own. Both courses have been named “Best New Course” by Golf Magazine and are nationally ranked in a number of top publications.

Designed by Jack Nicklaus, the White Course offers elevated championship tees with magnificent views in every direction. Playing at 7,353 yards from the tips, this Par 72 features 18 unique holes. Experience it for yourself.

“The experience of arriving at the Dismal River site was like stepping back in time and seeing what the dunes of Northeast Scotland must have looked like a hundred years ago. In every direction I looked, I saw great golf holes.” ~ Jack Nicklaus

The Red Course was discovered and designed by world-renowned architect and friend, Tom Doak, and his team at Renaissance Golf Design. The 18th hole delivers breathtaking vistas of the clubhouse, cabins and 400-foot sand dunes overlooking the river itself.

"The best designs of all are organic, evolving from the subtleties of the ground they inhabit." ~ Tom Doak

The thrill of the hunt.

A membership to Dismal River Club offers exclusive access to more than 80,000 acres for bird hunting, big-game hunting and estate hunting. Through our exclusive partnership with John Howell and Dismal River Outfitters, we can provide a world-class hunting experience for any hunter. Our hunting packages can be tailored to your needs and desires, and we can easily accommodate groups of any size, including corporate outings and retreats.

The habitat of the Sandhills is unique in that a wide-variety of game birds can be found here, offering the wingshooter a fantastic opportunity for a mixed-bag hunt. The area around the club is home to pheasants, bobwhite quail, prairie grouse (greater prairie-chicken and sharp-tailed grouse), and mourning dove. Additionally, we supplement native populations with pheasants, quail and chukar partridge and we offer exclusive hunting opportunities on our Controlled Shooting Area, which allows us an extended season from September 1 through April 15 each year. All other bird hunts are subject to Nebraska hunting regulations, seasons and bag limits.

We also offer special European-style hunts for pheasants. Pricing is based on the number of hunters and number of birds released.

  • All packages include ammunition, packaging, guides and dogs. Shotguns are available. Hunters are allowed to bring their own shotguns and ammunition.
Dismal River Outfitters offers incredible big-game hunting opportunities including spring turkey, mule deer and white-tailed deer. Mule deer are our specialty and this area of Nebraska is noted for producing trophy-quality mule deer every year. In addition to free-range deer and turkey hunts, we offer estate hunts in our 3,000-acre enclosure for buffalo and elk. All free-range big-game hunting is subject to state-regulated seasons and license restrictions.
  • All hunts include lodging, food, and guides. Not included: applicable licenses and tags, taxidermy, processing. Rifles and ammunition available.

If you aren’t an experienced shooter, what better place to learn than here? We’re happy to help teach you and we have the firearms, safety gear and expertise to make it a safe and enjoyable outing. Ranger supervisors are on site for all shooting-sport activities.

Sporting Clays has been called “golf with shotguns” due to the fact you walk from station to station and “play” a round at each station, shooting clay targets that are different from station to station - much like moving from hole to hole during an 18-hole round on our White or Red golf courses.
Five-Stand Sporting Clays is more like playing a shorter round of golf – rather than moving from station to station and covering a great distance, you simply move from station to station within our comfortable pavilion, and target presentation changes with each move you make in the pavilion. Fun and highly challenging for skilled and beginner shooters alike, Five-Stand is addictive and a great activity for groups and families as well as individual shooters.
For a warm up before your -Stand round you can even shoot our wobble trap which is set up at the pavilion as well.

Member: $25 per round
Non-Member: $35 per round

Shotguns, targets, ammunition and safety gear included in price. Shooters allowed to bring their own shotguns and ammunition if preferred.
Long-range shooting is one of the fastest growing shooting sports around. It tests your patience as well as your body and breathing control. At Dismal River Club, you can experience long-range shooting even if you’ve never tried it! Our range is set up with targets starting at 100 yards and going out to one mile. And we have precision rifles that are built for long-range accuracy. Of course, if you are already a precision shooter, you are welcome to bring your own rifles and ammunition.
And every shooter will want to attempt the Tatanka Challenge! One mile. 1,760 yards. Our buffalo silhouette target sits a mile away, awaiting all challengers. Hit the target and you walk away with a commemorative coin to celebrate your accomplishment.
Pricing for long-range shooting vary based on rifles, calibers and ammunition use.
